The cookbook, HomeComings: Among Friends Again, is in the mail.
I hope you enjoy it!
Those who purchased a copy as a gift, they were mailed to the people you wanted to have them.
Thank you again for your patience and interest in this collection of family recipes that reflect the oft repeated thoughts of Gladys Taber.
In her memory, let us say life is best lived with good food, good friends, and our family. Oh, a few Cocker Spaniels too!
"...just in case there are no everbearing strawberries in heaven, I take mine here and now, and let the pounds fall where they may."

Cooking along but not quite done yet
It seemed like it would be a fairly simple project, and but for a few glitches, it has been.
The first glitch was that the manuscript was not available electronically. Instead of pulling up an electronic file, adding some things and removing others (like all the typing errors), it had to be re-keyed. Floppy disks became zip disks (quickly obsolete) that were replaced by CDs and now flash drives. So that was done and in the process, many typing errors in the first edition were corrected. The manuscript is with the printer and as I type, I am waiting for a call from them on its status.
HomeComings: Among Friends Again is a collection of recipes from throughout the United States donated by loyal readers and fans of Gladys Taber.
The original edition was published in 1997 with help from the literary group, Still Cove Society, located in northern Wisconsin. The Society petered out, but there was some interest in the cookbook, so we've dusted it off, added some new pieces, and are offering it for sale again.
A very special project, part of the proceeds will be sent to Anne Colby, Gladys' granddaughter, to help support the Mrs. Taber's famous home, Stillmeadow. But the cookbook also shares the special nurturing of generations of recipes collected by Mrs. Taber's fans 27 years later. These are people who share in their love for Mrs. Taber's writings and celebrate her life. Gladys' writings touch home today, as they did when she first wrote them.
The book is spiral bound and arranged by seasons . Recipes in each seasonal chapter are sorted by categories. It is bound with a natural flecked cover and includes original line drawings of Mrs. Taber's favorite things. Each chapter is introduced by an original essay or poem by one of her many, many fans.
In her book, "Harvest at Stillmeadow" Gladys wrote about their first crop of homegrown strawberries and the shortcake that celebrated them. HomeComings: Among Friends Again is like those strawberries. A second crop, the book is a celebration of homegrown recipes.
"This is no dish to reduce on; but just in case there are no ever-bearing strawberries in heaven, I take mine here and now, and let the pounds fall where they may."
Check back soon to learn when the book is available. I'll post updates here as I have them.
